Sausage & Cheese Bread

Warm, cheesy and packed with savory flavor is what this bread is all about!  It’s just the thing to serve with soup and salad or toasted for breakfast.
Sausage Bread | A Southern Soul
We are big time soup lovers here and I am always on the lookout for a little something to serve on the side so, when I ran across my favorite recipe for cheese balls, it got me thinking…how about making this into a loaf.  There were just a few changes I needed to make to turn this into bread and happily, it worked.  I served nice, thick slices along side a bowl of cannelloni bean soup and we celebrated a happy Wednesday!

  4. why the mayo? Not something we use so I don't keep it in the house – what could I substitute?

    • Hey Lynn. Good question. You need the mayo for the "fat/oil" plus other flavors. I'd try some light oil, maybe canola but also would add a little salt and squeeze of lemon to get the right taste. Let me know what you think. And BTW…mayo is not a bad thing, it's easy to make your own and can be light and with lots of flavor!
      Happy 2014. friend!

We loved it. Found the recipe on interest today and my daughter made it tonight. We used cottage cheese instead of the mayo and that was great. Sausage balls are always a fav in our house so we are very happy to have found this recipe.
