Sometimes, even with the best intentions, things just don’t go according to plan. That’s kinda what happened here this week and I got busted. Believe it or not, Mr. A Southern Soul and my sweet son informed me we didn’t have anything to eat, which of course was not true. What they actually meant was, we had no snacks, nothing to munch on and no we don’t want carrot sticks. Well, I fixed that. Ok, I got you. How about this…halloween-crunch-bowl-closewmYep, I went for it! Don’t call me out on something and then expect me just to wither away. Actually, I just pretended to get a little huffy with them and act like my feelings were hurt. They were right, of course and we really didn’t have any “fun” food since we’d been out of town and extremely busy. I decided they needed an over the top treat then got creative. First, I picked several of their favorite salty, crunchy foods.halloween-crunch-1wmNext, I needed some sort of glue to hold my mixture together. Both of my guys like vanilla so I grabbed several blocks of melting candy to solve that problem. It’s always fun to work with this yummy stuff and I always feel like I can let my creative juices flow!halloween-crunch-2wmLast but not least, I added some extra sweetness with candy corn. This was a creation that started out with me rolling my eyes and thinking how silly my boys were being, then it turned into a very simple labor of love. It was really nice last evening (a rare occurrence that we were all home by 6pm) that after dinner we all headed to the great room to watch one of our favorite shows. I was ready for this moment and brought out my Halloween Crunch for us to share. Ah, yes…I surprised them alright. We laughed, joked and before you knew it, the bowl was empty and it was time for bed. I’d say, it was one great night and truth be told, I didn’t mind being called out by those two not one iota.halloween-crunch-overhead-wm
