I had these crackers several years ago at a party. With my love of all things savory, it was not long before I knew they were destined to become one of my favorite things to munch on. Over the years, I’ve served them at parties, made them for snacking on at the beach, and of course, when there’s a gathering to watch whatever kind of game is on TV. I also serve them with a steaming bowl of soup or stew and they are really great alongside a big helping of chili. It’s kind of crazy to think that a recipe this simple needs to be written down and shared but trust me, once you make these crackers and share them, you’ll have friends asking you to PLEASE tell them how to make them.
It’s crazy simple that you can turn and average box of saltines into these amazing snacks in under an hour. First, (wink) comes the hard part – open all the sleeves of crackers in the box and put them into a big bowl. Then, mix the ranch seasoning and red pepper flakes into canola oil.
Next, take the “firecracker” mixture and pour it over the saltines. Gently mix with a spoon, about every 5-8 minutes for a total of 20 minutes. That’s it! No baking, no cooking. Lastly, store your savory creation in an airtight container until you’re ready to enjoy them. Just a word of caution…once you start eating them it’s hard to stop, trust me, I know.

- 1 box (4 sleeves) saltine crackers
- 1 package ranch seasoning mix
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 1 1/2 cups canola oil
Place crackers in a large bowl. Mix together ranch seasoning, red pepper and canola oil. Pour mixture over crackers and using a large spoon, gently toss to coat. Mix crackers about every 5- 8 minutes for a total of 20 minutes. Store crackers in a zip top bag or air tight container.
