Crock Pot Applesauce is an incredibly easy recipe since all you do is load up the slow cooker and let it work it’s magic! It’s flavored with brown sugar, cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg is so delicious that once you taste homemade, you’ll never buy the stuff from the store again.

Applesauce make in the Crock Pot has just the right amount of sweetness with warm flavors of cinnamon & nutmeg. One you make homemade, the store bought stuff just won't do!

I’ve been making homemade applesauce for years and to be honest, I’ve never really thought much about the recipe until a reader asked me if I had one. I guess it slipped my mind because it’s one of those dishes that’s just become a staple in my “go-to” recipe list. I started making applesauce when the boys were little because they ate so much it that it was easier to make a big batch and then enjoy it throughout the week. Then over time, it became part of our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner line up because of this…homemade applesauce with a holiday ham is absolute perfection!

Since the Crock Pot actually does all the work, I usually make a big batch of applesauce the Monday before Thanksgiving. I use Granny Smith and Gala apples which give great flavors and textures to my dish. After that, all I add is a little bit of butter, vanilla, some brown sugar and spices. That’s it! Once the apples are cooked down, you can keep your sauce chunky, like I do or blend it up for more of a smooth texture. It’s one of the best “make ahead” dishes ever especially for the holidays. So, go ahead and give yourself a break with a homemade recipe that your family and friends will love.
