Growing up, when our family got together for a cookout we always had slaw with our burgers and dogs. Notice one thing here, I said, “Slaaww” not Coleslaw. Most folks around here know that when one says slaw, we mean cabbage with mayo and a few – very few – other ingredients. Here’s my Mama’s recipe. It’s creamy with just the right mix of flavors.
- 1 head white cabbage
- 1 cup good mayo
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- Shred cabbage with a box grater or food processor.
- Mix all other ingredients together and pour over cabbage. Taste and adjust the salt and pepper to your liking.
- Chill in fridge until ready to serve.
