There’s just something so nostalgic about Vanilla Floats! Whether you make them with root beer or Cheerwine they taste of fond memories and happy days. When I was a kid, would drink Cheerwine Floats throughout the summer, sitting on my mother’s porch.
If you are not from the South, you probably don’t know what Cheerwine is and I am so sorry. It’s an absolutely wonderful fizzy soda, with all the flavors of cherry cola and Dr. Pepper combined, Cheerwine is hard to resist. Cheerwine is made in North Carolina, just down the road from where I live, and we call it the “Nectar of North Carolina.”
Now, when you combine Cheerwine and vanilla ice cream then you’ve got something really special! Since this recipe only has a few ingredients, it’s important to use the best vanilla ice cream you can find. My favorite brand is the Talenti Gelato ‘vanilla bean’ flavor. I firmly believe a good cream float has to be made using good ingredients, and you can’t go wrong with Cheerwine!

my husband is originally from Salisbury, NC and moved to Maryland after we got engaged. Luckily for him, two Wegman's grocery stores opened near where we live in MD a few years ago and they sell it. Not sure if you have Wegman's up in Boston, but check it out if you do! Good luck!
