Slice onion and place in a bowl of cool water. Set aside.
Wash and dry tomatoes, slice into quarters or smaller, and place in bowl.
Add onions, tomatoes, olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, basil leaves, taste, adjust seasoning, and serve at room temperature.
