Ingredients

  • 2 pounds apples (about 8 cups when cut up)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • pinch salt

Instructions

  • Peel and chop apples then place in slow cooker. Cut butter into chunks and place on top of apples. Sprinkle on vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Place lid on crock pot and set to 3 hours on high.
  • At the end of cooking time, stir apples, mixing well. If smoother texture is desired, use a potato masher to break up apples.
