Meal Prep & Leftover Tips

Sheet Pan Brats and Potatoes on a metal sheet pan.

Sheet Pan Potatoes And Sausages: There are so many tasty kinds of sausages that you can use in this recipe. Try kielbasa, bratwurst, Sweet Italian sausage, or hot Italian sausage if you like a spicy kick!

Green bean salad with tomatoes, onion, and feta being tossed in a bowl.

Simple Green Bean Salad: Try adding toasted almonds, walnuts, or pine nuts for a crunch and nutty flavor. Goat cheese crumbles make a nice, creamy substitute for feta. Chopped basil or parsley can add a fresh, herbaceous twist. Roasted red peppers or zucchini would be excellent additions to this salad.

Slice of green chile cornbread with a pat of butter on a dark blue plate.

Green Chili Cheese Cornbread: Green chilies are mild and give the bread a nice depth of flavor. If you are looking to add some heat, you can use hatch green peppers or canned jalapeños.

Honey mustard in a mixing bowl with a wire whisk.

Spicy Honey Mustard: Use whole grain mustard and a high-quality honey. I usually get one at the farmers market. I don’t recommend raw honey because it can be a bit too thick and hard to mix up.

Pimento Cheese and Sausage Dip 23 in black bowl surrounded by tortilla chips and celery sticks, garnished with fresh parsley

Pimento Cheese Sausage Dip: Want it spicier? Use hot sausage or the hot version of tomatoes + green chilies. Want it milder? Choose mild Rotel (one reader noted Rotel can be spicy for some).

Crock Pot Chicken Legs with glossy brown sauce drizzled over mashed potatoes on a plate, garnished with fresh herbs

Crock Pot BBQ Chicken Legs: For that saucy, caramelized finish, place the cooked chicken under the broiler for a few minutes. It gives you that BBQ-style texture without firing up the grill.

Marinated tomatoes 4 served in decorative bowl with fresh parsley garnish, spoon, and whole tomatoes visible in background on wooden surface

Marinated Tomatoes: These marinated tomatoes can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If you’ve stored them chilled, let them come to room temperature before serving for the best flavor.
