Beautiful, crimson red, blood oranges and bubbly, cool Prosecco turn a classic cocktail into something unexpectedly wonderful. These easy to make, Blood Orange Mimosas are perfect for entertaining, celebrations or maybe just enjoying a special day.
If you’ve ever tasted a blood orange, you’ll get why I decided to change up the traditional mimosa recipe made with OJ. Blood oranges are juicy, sweet with a bit of tartness. They are only available December through April so you might want to mark your calendar, like I do, to make sure you grab a few bags to enjoy before they disappear. I really like the slightly bitter flavor they have and I really love the deep, rich, red color that comes out when they are sliced or juiced.

This past Friday, I served this these mimosas to celebrate a few things…it was Friday and the sun was shinning. Also, Mr. A Southern Soul’s birthday was the next day and that was a great reason to celebrate. See, for me, entertaining and making things special for those I love is not about a made up date on the calendar. It’s about acknowledging the little things in life and celebrating them. So, here’s to the little and sometimes big things in life…cheers, friends!
