Meal Prep & Leftover Tips

Bowl of bloody Mary chilis served as a pantry meal that's easy and delicious.

Bloody Mary Chili: Chili is a great to make ahead and freeze. Allow chili to cool, portion into freezer-safe containers, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator and heat it on the stovetop when serving it.

Corn Muffins served with butter, warm in a blue bowl for lunch or dinner.

Cornbread Muffins: Add jalapeño for some heat, honey for extra sweetness, stir in a handful of shredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese, or add herbs like chives, rosemary, or thyme.

Everyday Green Salad is fresh, easy to make, with tomatoes, lettuce and onion. It's the best recipe that's simple and delicious.

Everyday Green Salad: Customize to you liking. Use your favorite cheese, toss in peppers, cucumbers, broccoli or carrots, or add your favorite protein like grilled chickensteak, or pork tenderloin, or tuna.

Easy to make Cinnamon Rolls in a pan being scooped with a copper utensil served with a cup of coffee.

Cinnamon Rolls: Have you ever served cinnamon rolls with your chili? The unexpected combination is common in some regions of the Midwest. You can serve the cinnamon rolls for dessert, as a side for the chili, or scoop some chili right on top for a sweet and savory combination.

Stack of fried corn fritter stacked on a red and white paper napkin on a wooden serving board.

Corn Fritters: Use fresh corn kernels for the best flavor. If fresh corn is unavailable, you can use canned or frozen corn, but be sure to drain well. These also go great as a side for the chili.

Roast Beef Sliders: To make these ahead of time, make the sliders, then cover them with foil. Place in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.

Creamy and full of flavor, Deviled Egg Pasta Salad is a side dish classic that perfect for any family gathering, cookout, or potluck. Made with elbow macaroni, boiled eggs, celery, bacon and topped with green onions all in a delicious mayonnaise based dressing topped with a sprinkle of paprika served in a white bowl.

Deviled Egg Pasta Salad: This pasta salad really shines after it’s had time to chill, so making it ahead is a smart move. I like to save a little of the dressing and stir it in just before serving – it freshens everything up and brings back that creamy texture.
