Meal Prep & Leftover Tips

Bloody Mary Chili: Chili is a great to make ahead and freeze. Allow chili to cool, portion into freezer-safe containers, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator and heat it on the stovetop when serving it.

Cornbread Muffins: Add jalapeño for some heat, honey for extra sweetness, stir in a handful of shredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese, or add herbs like chives, rosemary, or thyme.

Everyday Green Salad: Customize to you liking. Use your favorite cheese, toss in peppers, cucumbers, broccoli or carrots, or add your favorite protein like grilled chicken, steak, or pork tenderloin, or tuna.

Cinnamon Rolls: Have you ever served cinnamon rolls with your chili? The unexpected combination is common in some regions of the Midwest. You can serve the cinnamon rolls for dessert, as a side for the chili, or scoop some chili right on top for a sweet and savory combination.

Corn Fritters: Use fresh corn kernels for the best flavor. If fresh corn is unavailable, you can use canned or frozen corn, but be sure to drain well. These also go great as a side for the chili.

Roast Beef Sliders: To make these ahead of time, make the sliders, then cover them with foil. Place in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.

Deviled Egg Pasta Salad: This pasta salad really shines after it’s had time to chill, so making it ahead is a smart move. I like to save a little of the dressing and stir it in just before serving – it freshens everything up and brings back that creamy texture.
