I’ve take all the goodness of a classic pecan pie and turned it into little tart bites! Pecan Pie Tart Bites are a fun little treat loaded with all the flavor of a regular slice of pie! Easy to make with the help of store bought Phyllo cups, this dessert comes together in less than 30 minutes.

A few weeks ago, I started playing around with a couple of dessert recipes for the holidays. I’d had pecan pie on my mind but wanted to do something a bit different. I eventually decided to make the traditional pie into tarts. I love any kind of food that’s a small bite, and knew that these little Phyllo cups would be the perfect vehicle for my filling.
With the use of store-bought Phyllo cups, this recipe is ready to serve in less than 30 minutes. I must admit, I was a bit skeptical at first about “messing with” such a beloved, Southern dessert but after tasting one of these little bites, I was a believer… and so was my family.
Now, here’s a little funny that happened when I was making my tarts. Mr. A Southern Soul was working from home and I told him that I was whipping up pecan pie tarts and he stopped in their tracks. “Finally” was the response I got. What? He then told me that pecan pie is his favorite, it seems after 28 years of marriage, I’d missed that little piece of info. I quickly corrected my mistake and made 3 batches of my man’s favorite pie tarts. I must have done something right because by the end of the night, there was not a single crumb left!
Ingredients Needed To Make Pecan Pie Tart Bites
- Butter – melted
- Brown sugar
- Egg – beaten
- Honey
- Vanilla
- Salt
- Pecans – finely chopped
- 1 box Phyllo cups – 15 per box
How To Make These Mini Pecan Pie Tarts
Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper and then place Phyllo cups on the lined sheet and set aside.
In a medium sized bowl, whisk together butter and sugar until thoroughly blended. Add in egg, honey, vanilla and salt mixing together well, then sprinkle in pecans and stir. Using a teaspoon, fill each Phyllo cup with pecan mixture.
Bake in oven for 10 to 15 minutes until done. Edges of Phyllo cups will turn golden brown when ready. Remove them from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes then take them off of the the baking sheet and serve!
People Often Ask…
Yes, absolutely! This is a terrific recipe to freeze until you’re ready to serve, since they’re bite sized you can store a ton of them in a Ziploc bag.
What you’ll want to do is bake them until they are just set instead of fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes. Then remove them from the oven and allow them to cool, once they’re fully cooled you can pop them in a bag and store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To defrost them, remove them from the freezer and place them in the fridge to thaw. After they’re defrosted, bake at 350 for about 5 minutes or until they are warm and golden brown.

Can you use white sugar instead of brown, if so how much.
Donya
Hey there!
The recipe calls for two tablespoons of brown sugar so I would just use the same amount of white sugar as a substitute. I would love to know how this turns out, let me know! Hope you enjoy!

Can you freeze any of these recipes? Especially the crock pot lemon chicken and pecan tarts.
Thank you.
Donya
Hey Cindy!
Yes to freezing the crock pot lemon chicken. I’m not sure about the pecan pie tarts. They come together so quickly that I’ve never thought about freezing them.
Let me know if you try it.
