I’ve had great success cooking Sweet Potatoes, Brussels Sprouts, Baby Potatoes, and Chicken Wings in my air fryer. Because of that, I had a good feeling that turning sweet potatoes into delicious crispy fries would be easy. I was right! From now on, this is the only way I’ll be making one of my family’s favorite side dishes.
What’s Needed To Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries
- Sweet Potatoes – choose small to medium-sized, firm potatoes with few blemishes.
- Avocado Oil – any neutral oil (gluten-free) you may have on hand.
- House Seasoning – you can also use garlic powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt.
- Parmesan Cheese, Fresh Parsley
Do I Need To Peel The Sweet Potatoes?
Some people like to peel their sweet potatoes but this is totally up to personal preference. I’ve had them both ways and don’t find it necessary to peel the sweet potatoes.
How to Make Sweet Potato Fries In The Air Fryer
- Wash, dry, and cut the sweet potatoes into thin strips. Toss in oil and seasoning to coat the fries. Place the potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for 10 minutes.
- Halfway through, remove the basket and shake, then return to finish cooking.
- Remove them and finish with additional seasoning, parmesan, and parsley.
Donya’s Success Tips
- Make sure to cut the sweet potatoes about the same size. This will ensure that they cook evenly.
- Shake the basket of the air fryer halfway through cooking. Do this even if you are making a double batch of fries.
- Immediately after the fries are done, remove them from the air fryer basket, sprinkle with House Seasoning, Parmesan cheese, and fresh parsley, and serve hot.
Serving Suggestions
Sweet potato fries make the perfect side dish alongside burgers and hot dogs. We love dipping them in apple butter served with pulled pork sandwiches. And for snacking, there’s nothing better than these fries, and a cold strawberry margarita!
