How To Make Honey Fig Pistachio Goat Cheese Appetizer

  1. Take the goat cheese out of the fridge to let it come to room temperature.
  2. Add the honey and fig preserves to a small saucepan and warm on low heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Chop the pistachios.
  4. Drizzle the warm honey fig mixture over the goat cheese log. Sprinkle on chopped pistachios and serve.

Variations

  • If you don’t like pistachios, you can substitute roasted walnuts or pecans.
  • Don’t care for goat cheese? Substitute cream cheese for the same creamy texture.
  • Add a bit of spice to the honey and fig mixture with a pinch of red pepper flakes or fresh cracked black pepper.
  • Fresh herbs are also a great addition for a pop of freshness. Before serving, sprinkle on finely chopped chives, rosemary, basil, or thyme.

Tips For Making This Recipe

  • Let the goat cheese come to room temperature. This will make it easier to slice and serve.
  • You can shell the pistachios yourself or buy them pre-shelled. Make sure to chop them roughly before sprinkling them over the cheese log.
  • To make it ahead of time, place the creamy goat cheese log on a serving plate. Drizzle on the honey fig mixture, cover with plastic wrap, and store in the fridge. Before serving, sprinkle on the chopped nuts.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

I only had fig preserves with chilis, which was delicious because it added a slight heat to it. This would also be good with chopped pecans. Delicious and different!
