- Dried Cranberries – take this salad, Family Favorite Chopped Salad, and Broccoli Cauliflower Salad to a new level with just the right amount of sweetness.
- Pecans – a classic Southern ingredient.
- Apple – I like to use Honeycrisp apples that have a tart sweetness.
- Green Onions
- Salt and Pepper

- Red onions are a great addition for a bit of savoriness.

How To Make The Dressing?
- Good or homemade mayonnaise – not salad dressing.

- Fresh cracked pepper
- Garlic Powder
Whisk everything together in a small bowl or measuring cup. Pour over the chicken and other ingredients. Using a large spoon or spatula, toss all ingredients together until well mixed.
Success Tips
- Chop the chicken so it’s bite-sized. Some recipes shred the chicken, but I’ve found chopping the chicken makes it easier to eat.
- Mix the dressing ingredients in a large bowl, then add everything else. This saves you from cleaning more dishes!
- Double the batch so you have meals for the whole week. The easiest way to meal prep is to double what you’re already making!

This recipe is good except for the amount of salt in the recipe. 1 teaspoon is way too much. I put slightly less than a teaspoon and the whole thing was way too salty. Inedible. So I added more mayo and some pickle relish to offset the salt. It was ok. It probably only needs 1/4 teaspoon of salt!

I made this tonight and only omitted the celery. It’s absolutely delicious; I kept sneaking it out of the fridge for more spoonfuls. I can’t wait till tomorrow when I can try it on some fresh, homemade honey wheat bread, or even scooped into half an avocado. This will be my go-to chicken salad recipe from now on. The chopped apple is a perfect addition. Thank you!

Delicious. I added a fourth of a cup of finely chopped celery for a little added taste and texture. It was a good add in. It was a hit for our baby shower.

Interesting flavors! I had leftover chicken from last nights instant pot dinner & homemade mayo to use up. My husband suggested making chicken salad. I looked for a different recipe & stumbled upon this. I’ve never had anything like it. It’s great & my little 20 month old toddler is gobbling it up. I did add a little almond milk sour cream & it’s great. The apple I used is my favorite Lady Alice. Thanks for sharing!
