I used Donya’s menu for my best friend’s birthday brunch and it was absolutely perfect. Everything was made ahead, the table was gorgeous, and I actually got to enjoy the morning instead of being stuck in the kitchen. My friends are already asking when the next one is.

This Is the Brunch That Lets You Be a Guest at Your Own Party

I have hosted more brunches than I can count. And for a long time, I made the same mistake every single time. I planned too much, tried too hard, and spent the morning rushing around the kitchen while my friends waited in the living room.
Then I figured it out. The secret to a great girls’ brunch is not more food. It is the right food. Light, beautiful, full of color and flavor. And almost all of it done the night before.
This menu is what I reach for now. It fits on any table, fills any occasion, and gives everyone — including me — room to just sit down and enjoy each other.

How To Host This Brunch
Step 1: Plan ahead. Choose your date and send a casual text. No formal invite needed. Tell them what time and what to bring — I usually just say ‘just yourselves.
Step 2: Shop and prep. Two days before, buy everything fresh. The night before, work through the make-ahead game plan. It takes about an hour and makes the morning effortless.
Step 3: Set the table and set the bar. The night before, lay the tablecloth, set your plates and glasses, and put your flowers in water. Morning of, set out the champagne bar, slide in the casserole, and assemble the fresh bites.
Step 4: Welcome your people. Open the door, hand them a glass, and let the morning unfold. This is the part that matters most.

Donya’s Best Tips for a Stress-Free Girls’ Brunch
Build the menu around make-ahead dishes. If it can be fully assembled the night before, it earns a spot on this table. The morning of brunch should be calm, not chaotic.
Keep the food light and layered. Mix savory and sweet, warm and cold. One hot casserole, two or three cold dishes, and something fresh. That balance makes everything feel intentional.
Set the table the night before too. Lay out your plates, fold your napkins, and put your flowers in water. Walking into a set table the next morning is one of the best feelings.
Let the champagne bar do the work. A self-serve drink station means you are never playing bartender. Set it up once and step away.
Use what you love. I pull out my vintage plates and the flower vases I have collected over the years for a table like this. A mismatched, curated table feels more personal than anything matching ever could.
The Menu
Pimento Cheese Bites
Creamy, tangy pimento cheese scooped onto cool cucumber rounds. Two bites, big flavor, and gone before you know it. Set these out the moment guests walk in.
The Ultimate Southern Pickled Shrimp
Bright, briny, and just a little tangy from the pickling liquid. Tender shrimp served cold with toothpicks or on a small plate — the kind of appetizer that makes people stop and ask for the recipe.
Easy Everyday Green Salad
Crisp greens tossed in a sweet, deep blueberry vinaigrette with fresh fruit tucked in throughout. Light enough to feel like spring and beautiful enough to anchor the whole table.
Ham and Cheese Croissant Breakfast Casserole
Buttery, golden, and loaded with savory ham and melty cheese — all soaked into flaky croissant layers. Assembled the night before and baked that morning. This one does the heavy lifting so you do not have to.
Glazed Orange Muffins
Tender, fragrant muffins with a bright citrus glaze that crackles just slightly on top. They smell incredible the moment they come out of the oven and taste like a warm, sunny morning.
No Bake Cherry Delight In Jars
Creamy, sweet, and just a little indulgent — layers of cream cheese filling, cherry topping, and buttery graham cracker crust served in individual jars. No slicing, no serving. Just pick one up and enjoy.

Things I Love for a Girls’ Brunch Table
There is a difference between a table that is pretty and a table that feels like you. For a morning like this, I reach for pieces that have a story.
•My printed tablecloth in a soft floral or gingham. It sets the whole mood.
•Vintage plates I have collected over the years. No two have to match.
•Fresh flower vases, small and clustered together rather than one large arrangement.
•My favorite wine glasses, which I use for both the champagne and the juice.
•Linen napkins, loosely folded. Not perfect, just lovely.
•A wooden salad bowl for the salad.
•Pretty serving bowls for the fruit and the honey cream.
This is not about spending money. It is about using the pieces you love and putting them on the table together

Change It Up: Seasonal Twists and Easy Swaps
•Make it a spring brunch. Add fresh asparagus with feta, or swap the croissant casserole for a lighter egg frittata, served in slices.
•Make it a birthday celebration. Serve the Cherry Delight jars with a small sparkler on top. Add a ‘birthday girl’ name tag to one of the vintage plates. Tie a ribbon around her champagne flute.
•Go lighter. Swap the croissant casserole for quiche. Add a balsamic vinaigrette alongside a spinach salad.
•Add a sweet station. Set out a small tray with chocolate dip, fruit, strawberry quick bread, and honey. Light, beautiful, no baking required that morning.
•Make it alcohol-free. Swap the champagne for sparkling water or a pretty lemonade. Add fresh mint and sliced citrus to a big glass pitcher and let guests serve themselves.
