Over the years, I’ve served up lots of game-day food to a house full of guys. But nothing beats chicken wings! My guys and I both love them when they are cooked correctly. The skin should be super crispy, and the meat inside should be tender and juicy.

The air from convection cooking is hot and swirling. This produces chicken wings that are incredibly crispy and juicy. You can’t get this result from frying or baking in the oven. And with air fryer chicken wings, you can even try different flavors like lemon pepper chicken wings, air fryer Asian chicken wings, or buffalo wings.

Toss the chicken wings in baking powder. Preheat the air fryer. Cook the wings in a single layer for optimal crispiness. Cook the wings. Coat them with your favorite hot or soy sauce. Serve with paper towels for messy fingers.

Whether you’re using fresh or frozen chicken wings in the air fryer, you can have delicious and crispy wings in just minutes. Try out different chicken wing recipes and find your perfect lemon pepper wing recipe in the air fryer!

There are a few basic things you need to do to make really fantastic wings:

  1. Make sure your wings are dry before cooking. I pat them dry with paper towels and let them sit on the counter for 5 minutes.
  2. I like to use a dry seasoning mix on my wings. Put the wings in a bowl and liberally sprinkle on whatever seasoning you like.
  3. Since the chicken skin has enough fat in it, you do not need to add additional oil.
  4. Cook the chicken in batches. You don’t want to crowd the air fryer basket so that the air can flow freely.
  5. As the wings cook, shake the basket about every 5-8 minutes. Pull out the handle and give the basket a good shake to loosen the wings so that they cook evenly.

There are usually 2 camps when it comes to serving chicken wings, either wet or dry. As I said, I like them dry, loaded with savory seasoning. But if you like them wet, then that’s ok, just add your favorite sauce and enjoy.

Ideas For Serving Air Fryer Chicken Wings

  • Sprinkle on hot pepper flakes, then dip into Blue Cheese Dressing.
  • Once they are cooked, dip them into Alabama White Sauce, Carolina Gold BBQ Sauce, or Dr. Pepper BBQ Sauce for a punch of smoky flavor.
  • I use Homemade Montreal Steak Seasoning to add a good dose of pepperiness.
  • Serve Outrageously Good Stuffed Celery on the side to cool things off.
  • Seasoning blends like lemon pepper, Za’atar, and Ranch are great for sprinkling on the wings before cooking.

Different Wings For Different Things

Air fryer chicken wings are a game-day favorite, and you can switch up the flavor with different seasonings and sauces. For a tangy and zesty flavor, try air fryer lemon pepper chicken wings. The crispy skin and juicy meat are the perfect backdrops for the bright and bold flavors of lemon pepper seasoning.

If you’re in the mood for something a little more exotic, air-fried chicken wings with a delicious Asian twist are for you. Soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and a touch of honey create a savory and slightly sweet glaze that’s irresistible.

And, of course, you can’t go wrong with classic air fryer buffalo wings. Toss the wings in your favorite hot sauce.

Coat them in a little butter. Serve them up with a side of blue cheese or ranch dressing. In no time, you can have perfect air fryer chicken wings that are crispy and delicious.

If I want to put teriyaki sauce on my wings when would I add that? Before or after cooking?

      Hey Linda.
Sure you can make them in the oven. I would cook them at a high temperature, 375 or 400 so that they’ll get crispy on the outside.
Let me know how they turn out.
      Have a great day,

Thanks for the recipe! This will be my first try at air frying anything! Are the wings cooked from frozen or do I thaw them first?
