Never have I ever passed up garlic bread. I don’t know about you, but there’s something totally irresistible about baked bread awash in butter and flavored with garlic, cheese, and herbs. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. These soft, warm little bundles are incredible to serve as appetizers along with marinara or alfredo sauce, and you know they are required for pasta night.
How To Make Garlic Knots With Biscuit Dough
Using canned biscuit dough for garlic parmesan knots is a game-changer because it saves time and effort while still delivering delicious results. The dough is already perfectly prepared, so you can skip the mess and hassle of making dough from scratch, plus canned biscuit dough is readily available and affordable.
Easy Parmesan Knots Ingredients
- Canned biscuits – any brand you like or have will work! I like to use larger biscuits when making the knots for dinner, but you can use smaller ones if you are making this recipe as an appetizer.
- Spices – garlic powder and Italian herb seasoning are all you need.
- Butter & cheese – grab grated parmesan cheese and unsalted butter to make the glaze for the rolls.
Recipe Variations
- Swap parmesan with mozzarella, asiago, or cheddar for different cheese flavors.
- Use garlic-infused olive oil instead of butter for a dairy-free option.
- Add fresh herbs like parsley, basil, or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
- Stuff the knots with cheese or sprinkle Everything Bagel seasoning on top.
- For dipping, serve with marinara, blue cheese dressing, ranch, or hot honey.
Step By Step Instructions
- Preheat the oven and line a baking sheet. Cut the biscuits in half and roll each one out into 5-6 inches. Tie a knot in the middle of each strip, tucking the ends under to form a ball, and then place them on the baking sheet.
- Mix the melted butter, herbs, and parmesan in a small bowl.
- Brush the top of the garlic knots with most of the garlic butter and bake for 16-18 minutes.
- Once out of the oven, brush with remaining butter and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
Donya’s Tips For Making This Recipe
- Use a knife or pizza cutter to half each biscuit, then roll each into a 5 to 6-inch “snake.” Tie a knot in the middle of the dough then tuck the ends under, placing it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl. I use a glass measuring cup.
- The last and most important step is to give these yummy babies a butter bath. Slather on the remaining garlic butter mixture for the BEST Garlic Knots you’ve ever tasted!

I made these last night and they were quite tasty. I served them with a bowl of chili. The sauce was exactly the right amount for the dough and I used it all on the first brushing. I used Grands southern style biscuits, not being sure how the flaky ones would turn out. The only change I made was to double the garlic powder and even at that felt there was not enough garlic; I will use even more next time. Making these is a big cost savings over $3.00 for 5 knots in the freezer case at the store. Thanks for sharing.
